Gladys M Jones
My life has been interesting and very varied. I began my career as a paint chemist for ICI the largest UK company at the time. Alas it no longer exists. After three years in France, I joined STC (Standard Telephones and Cables). The company was a world leader in the development and manufacture of optical cable systems for telecommunications. . I also spent a period at BICC – another cable company. Probably the most exciting period, in the mid 90’s, was the year I worked on the Government’s Technology Foresight Programme.
The final phase of my working life was spent as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Greenwich, passing on some of my experiences to the next generation.
In retirement, I am busy with art, photography and my writing. You can see some more reminiscences here.
